Fog is one of photography’s best friends
One of my favorite special effects to add to my photos is fog. It creates depth and atmosphere within an area and once you play around with your lights you can almost magically make a bland scene into the realm of cinema and wonder. By using two speedlights and some natural light from outside, I was able to capture this moment with the fog looking blue and mysterious, creating almost an entire story within just one single picture. The power that photography has is incredible and definitely left its make on me.
Water drops that have personality
The entire set up to get this shot of the water drop was incredibly fun and awesome to be able to see within my own camera! Catching multiple moments when a water drop falls into the water and then makes it little baby splash is so amazing and unique each time the camera snaps a picture. This sort of effect, which takes place on the macro scale of things, really showed me just how every little detail is important; even a drop of water.
A spoonful of sugar helps the strawberry feel pretty
I cannot tell you how many times I threw lots of sugar at this poor strawberry! As forgiving as it was afterwards, catching that right magic moment was just great for me and had a splendid effect to it. I can’t help but think of Christmas when I look at this photo. Using speedlights and a high shutter speed to catch the action, this special effect is something that shows how beautiful things are made when combined like this.
Here is another strawberry who was dreaming of snow falling in December…
